CYCLING SCIENCE

Q: Most supplement companies recommend on/off cycling with their fat loss products. I'm well aware of why they do this, because of the side effects and health issues with ephedrine. I'm curious why you guys recommend cycling some of your products such as GH Factor, Energy Reserve, and Lean Out? Aren't they supposed to be totally safe?
A: They are 100% safe with NO side effects (unless you consider fat loss a bad side effect). In fact, Lean Out is one of the healthiest supplements anyone could take for aiding in cholesterol reduction and promoting a healthy blood lipid profile. GH Factor fights high blood pressure, increases circulation, and mental acuity. The reason these supplements are cycled is purely result oriented with the end goal being fat loss.

More About GH Factor

GH Factor is a precursor to GH release. It stimulates the pituitary gland, which in turn expedites the secretion of Growth Hormone. The pituitary gland is a storage house for growth hormone. Once or if, the stored GH is released, then the rate of fat loss slows. Generally, it will take about 5 weeks to totally deplete the pituitary gland of any surplus GH so this is why we recommend taking GH Factor for no more than 5 weeks straight if fat loss is the only intended goal. Don't worry about secreting your surplus of GH from the pituitary and not having any left. Your body produces more. Cycling Lean Out and Energy Reserve reflects adaptation. Your body knows how to adjust to changes. Just like in training. And when you introduce a new stimulus the results are exponential in the beginning. For example, many people report gains of 15-30 lbs in the first 2 months they work out, but as they continue to train week in and week out, those results are never duplicated. This is the Law of diminishing returns. Thus, Lean Out and Energy reserve are often cycled in 2-4 weeks at a time to avoid adaptation and so the client can continue to benefit from the "shock stimulus". It must be noted that cycling off and on Lean Out and Energy Reserve for max-results does not mean that they stop working after a period of time. For example: Each time I stop working out for a few weeks and then start up again, my increases in strength are about as quick as when I first began training. Does this mean that if I continue training I will not get a response? No. In essence, what we do by cycling is increase results to the absolute optimum, and using the theory of neoteric or new (This is the Beverly big word of the month), stimulus is fastest way of doing this. It also saves you a little money.

SUPPLEMENT ADAPTATION & FOOD ALLERGIES

Q: In the last issue of BodyMuscle Charles Poliquin wrote that you should vary your proteins. If I am taking Mass and Ultra 40 along with proteins such as chicken, eggs, beef, and tuna, will my body get accustomed to the supplemental proteins too? Also, what about the Beverly Protein powders and allergies from foods?
A: This is not what he meant because obviously one could live well on chicken, beef or whole egg protein forever. He was talking about maximizing varying amino acid profiles form varying proteins. All of the Beverly proteins with the exception of 100% Egg (hence the name) are multi species blends and so the risk of any adaptation is minimal. We go to extreme measures to ensure that our proteins are lactose and allergen free. If you have a food allergy to egg, then of course you could not use the 100% Egg. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over the issue however because developing a food allergy is not real common although it can happen. The usual culprits for food allergies are eggs, beef, and milk. Developing an allergy to Ultra 40 is remote, and you could definitely not develop an allergy to Mass Aminos. Mass Aminos are 100% allergen free, and are also predigested and easily absorbed. Mass is used in the medical community for patients who suffer from various food allergies and muscle wasting diseases.

Results of Mass and Ultra 40
Mass and Ultra 40 is as much a part of our athletes' programs year around as food and water. People ask what our biggest secret is, and this is it.

Quite frankly, we have never even heard of any case in which someone would not be able to take the Mass Aminos and the only people we encounter who cannot stomach the Ultra 40's are very strict vegetarians who choose not to take it for personal reasons. Mass and Ultra 40 are two products that our athletes stay on all the time no matter what the goal. Just within the last month we advised one of our most dedicated clients to go off all supplements for a few weeks. He had been on Mass and Ultra 40 for at least a year straight and we figured if he cycled off the results would be very prolific once he went back on. Well, he came off the two products and kept everything else the same - diet, training, work, everything! In about 4 weeks, he lost 8 lbs of muscle. Bad move! There is a happy ending though because he is back on the Mass and Ultra 40 and his muscle is going back on quicker than it went down. Remember it's the limiting amino factor in any food that limits its amino acid profile strength. Mass and Ultra 40 work like pieces of a puzzle to literally fill in all the gaps and strengthen all areas of the protein matrix so that more food protein overall is used for muscle building. If a protein or amino acid chain is incomplete then it is likely to be excreted as a byproduct or used as energy. So by using Mass and Ultra 40 with your meals and protein drinks more amino acids are used to form complete proteins and you grow muscle more efficiently. There is no reason to cycle Mass or Ultra 40 for fear of any allergy development.
